Co-op Placement Employers

Employers offering our students a traditional-type work placement opportunity are required to:

• employ the student full-time for 13 to 16 weeks
• develop an appropriate job description with the Co-operative Education Coordinator
• provide the student with the opportunity to do work that is both meaningful and productive
• compensate the student financially at a fair rate and in accordance with Labour Laws
• assist the student in setting learning objectives for the work term
• supervise and provide mentoring to the student
• offer guidance to the student in the development of his or her work term report
• evaluate the student’s performance.

Note: The programme coordinator is both a resource for the student and the employer. The programme coordinator is available for support and consultation to foster the employer/student relationship, helping to ensure a high quality experience for both parties.
