English 4213 - Seminar in Performance and Production (Sem 2)

Course Description

This seminar, the capstone course in the Drama Concentration, is designed to further develop an understanding of the methodologies of text analysis and practical aspects of staging theatre productions. Students will engage in readings of plays, secondary critical analyses, and exercises that explore stage composition. Additionally, there is a significant writing component to the class in which students will be required to fulfill weekly assignments that contribute to a director's notebook. The semester will culminate in a public performance of a short play directed by each student. Attendance is mandatory. The amount of time required outside of class for rehearsals is substantial.
Students must be in their fourth year and registered in the Drama Concentration to take this class.
