An international and interdisciplinary conference about human services in rural and small-town settings will be held from 29 to 30 May 2003 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The location for the conference is the Seton Academic Centre (http://www.msvu.ca/campus_tour/seton.asp) at Mount Saint Vincent University, located on the Bedford Highway about ten minutes from the centre of Halifax. Keynote speakers Brian Cheers from Australia and Richard Pugh from England will join an estimated 150 delegates from Canada, the United States, Israel, Russia, India, England, Scotland, and Australia to explore and develop understanding about rural practice. A highlight of this conference will be a session where Aboriginal delegates from Canada and Australia can meet to share their experiences. There will be whole-day workshops devoted to particular themes including violence and abuse in rural communities, rural aging, and work with children and families. For further information contact Rosemary Clews at rural@stu.ca or Joanne Vincent 506-452-0647 (Conference Administrator) at rural@stu.ca. If you need to fax us our number is 506-452-0633.
