Recruitment - Part-Time Positions
The following procedures
will be followed in advertising for part-time faculty after approval
for the appointment has been received:
| 1.
|
In
cases where no member of the bargaining unit has a claim to the
position under Article 5.03 of the Collective Agreement between
St. Thomas University and the Faculty Association of the University
of St. Thomas (Part-time Bargaining Unit), the position shall be
advertised. |

Internal
Advertisements |
| |
|
|
| |
1. |
In cases where
there is an internal candidate for a part-time position, the Chair
or Programme Director may recommend to the Vice-President (Academic)
that an internal advertisement be posted. Internal candidates are
defined as retired full-time faculty, non-bargaining employees who
are currently teaching at the University or who have taught in the
previous academic year. |

2.
|
At the request
of a Chair or Programme Director, the Vice-President (Academic)
may waive the requirement for advertising if time is short, or is
there are other extenuating circumstances. |

| |
3.
|
The department
shall submit a description of the desired candidate (50 words or
less), to the Office of the Vice-President (Academic) and include
a proposed closing date for the posting. |

|
| |
4.
|
The Vice-President
(Academic) will review the description for content. Any changes
to the content will be brought to the attention of the Department
Chair/Programme Director before submission for publication. |

5.
|
The Office
of the Vice-President (Academic) will forward the description to
the Human Resources Office. Internal advertisements shall be posted
on the Human Resources Website. The Human Resources Office will
use the attached format when developing the advertisements. |

| Note: |
In letter
of recommendation, to the Vice-President (Academic), remember to
qualify your recommendation by including: that all other part-time
faculty members with more seniority have been approached and are
either not able to teach this specific course or are not qualified.

Advertisements |

for such advertising, must be submitted to the Office of the Vice-President
(Academic). Placements will be arranged by the Human Resources Office. |
Format
for Advertising for Part-Time (Academic) Positions
The Department
of fill this in, St. Thomas University invites applications
for an instructor to teach course goes here with dates, days
and times. A PhD is preferred; a master’s degree is required.
Each applicant is to submit a curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching
effectiveness (teaching portfolio preferred) and arrange to have three
letters of reference sent directly to the Chair’s name,
Chair, the name of the department Department, St. Thomas
University, Fredericton, NB E3B 5G3. Closing date: enter date,

that their files, including letters of reference, are complete by this
