Cookbook Supports Bursary
by Charlene Collins
The St. Thomas University social work department along with the Taylor family are creating a special cookbook. The cookbook is dedicated in loving memory of Sherry Lynn Taylor who suddenly passed away on May 11, 1997. Sherry was a graduate of St. Thomas University, BSW 1992. She was employed with Health & Community services as a Child Protection Social Worker from 1992-1997. In her professional life she promoted values of strength, responsibility, human dignity & justice in individuals & social institutions. Sherry’s compassion & desire to help the needy was very evident in the volunteer work she so graciously & willingly performed. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, colleague & friend who touched many lives with her kindness & loving care.
If you choose, you could become apart of this wonderful project, simply by purchasing a cookbook. Proceeds from the sale of this cookbook will go directly to the Sherry Lynn Taylor Memorial Bursary. The Bursary will be given based on financial need with, an expressed interest in child and family well being, community services & extra-curricular activities. Bearing this in mind, the bursary will be awarded to a student in the professional years of the Bachelor of Social Work. Through the existence of this bursary our hope is that Sherry Lynn’s values and beliefs may continue through the students of the St. Thomas University Social Work Program. Cookbooks will be ready for purchasing near the end of November 2000. You may order a cookbook by contacting the St. Thomas University Social Work Department.
