Dr. O’Brien called the meeting to order. He announced that this was a special meeting dealing only with the single agenda item: Strategic Research Plan 2003-2008.
a) Motion: That Senate approve the St. Thomas University Strategic
Research Plan 2003-2008, including the summary.
b) There was some discussion around the need for recognition of research outside of funded research. It was agreed to identify this document internally as the “Strategic Plan for the Development of Funded Research at St. Thomas University.”
c) Amendment: That Senate empower the Research Committee to revise
the second paragraph to reflect a broader notion of research and scholarship
at St. Thomas University.
d) AMENDED MOTION: CARRIED.
The meeting adjourned at 11:40 a.m.
