Edited Inkshed on Session 4. Martin, Betty, Chris

It's very difficult to resist the radical response in all these cases. The response which says, "School is all wrong. Burn them all down and start over." If it takes the Inuit social workers to break down the kind of discourse hierarchies that are implicit in what Betty and Chris described, it's just not going to happen. In all these cases, the way education is modelled is as something that's done to you by somebody else. The social workers didn't model it that way, but clearly Betty's and Chris' students, and the administrators shaping the institutions they are working in, see it that way. -- Russ
