International Students A special welcome to all of the new international students who are joining the St. Thomas community for the 2004-2005 academic year! We trust that your experience will prove to be nothing short of remarkable. Here at STU, we pride ourselves in our students’ diversity, hence our ever-growing, vibrant international population on campus. We have some fun and exciting events planned to help celebrate your arrival at STU and introduce you firsthand to our Canadian and New Brunswick culture!
When you arrive in Fredericton, you will have plenty of time to get settled into residence, rest and adjust to your new surroundings. There will be time allotted specifically for English Language Testings and other business you may have, such as setting up a Canadian bank account. Once you are settled, the fun will begin! Welcome Week has several activities planned especially for international students. You can expect an afternoon of international games, a trip to the Regent Shopping Mall where you can buy any of the essentials you might need, a Saturday morning trip to Boyce Farmer’s Market, a “Canadian” theme movie night, as well as a tour of the historic sites, museums and art galleries of downtown Fredericton. Plus, once our Canadian students have arrived, the Students’ Union and all the STU residences will host some exciting social events. Some of these activities include: inflatable games, karaoke, an evening at Kingswood Entertainment Centre, a dance, an outdoor music concert, a BBQ and an AIDS WALK fund-raiser! Be sure to purchase a Welcome Week Kit so that you can participate in all of these activities. All international students will want to attend the Culture Shock Walk on Saturday, September 11th at 11:15am. The tour will meet in the Black Box Theatre in Sir James Dunn Hall at 11:15am.
