Students' Union Activities

The Welcome Week Kits, created by the Students’ Union, are full of unique Welcome Week merchandise that will be useful during your time at STU. More importantly, the T-Shirt that comes with the kit will serve as your exclusive pass to all of the Welcome Week events planned throughout the week. This year, the Students’ Union theme is STU’s Company... Come and Knock On Our Door! Without this kit, you will not be able to participate in this year’s activities planned by the Students’ Union. The kits will include a STU laundry bag, a clipboard, an ID wallet, a key-chain, a safety whistle, a water-bottle, a lanyard, a T-Shirt and more! If you wish to purchase your Welcome Week kit in advance, please send a cheque or money order for $65.00, payable to St. Thomas University’s Students’ Union to the address below. It may be possible to purchase a kit during Welcome Week, but they have been known to sell-out. So, we recommend purchasing one in August before you arrive. You can pick-up your Welcome Week Kit in the lower level of James Dunn Hall on September 5, 6 & 7th. Be sure to wear your STU’s Company T-Shirt to all of the Students’ Union events during Welcome Week!

Kingswood Entertainment Centre
On Monday night, September 6th, the Students’ Union is hosting a lock-in at Kingswood Entertainment Centre. Which means the entire facility will be reserved for all first-year STU students from 11:00pm until 1:00am! Why not join the fun? There will be cosmic bowling, arcade games, extreme lazer tag, pool and air hockey tables. Plus, free shuttles will be running from the Vanier Hall parking lot at around 10:30pm. If you live off campus, feel free to catch a shuttle or come with your own vehicle. Kingswood Entertainment Centre is located on the Hanwell Road (Route 640) at 31 Kingswood Park.

Inflatable Games & Karaoke Night
Do you have aspirations of becoming a buff bodybuilder? We have a remarkable three-step program! Come to the Inflatable Games Party on Tuesday, September 7th, from 10:00-1:00am in the Rigby Hall Ballroom. You will be able to try your hand (and body) at the ominous Velcro Wall, become a Gladiator champion, Sumo Wrestle your way to fame, master the Big Glove Boxing ring, and Karaoke to your heart’s content all in one night! Once again, there will be free shuttles running from the Vanier Hall parking lot around 9:30pm.

Dance/Social at James Dunn Hall
Everybody dance! On Wednesday, September 8th, the Students’ Union will be hosting a DJ Dance Party in James Dunn Hall. Shaking the house with hip, hop and happening tunes from 9:00-12:00am, this dance will be the party to knock your year’s socks off!

Live Outdoor Concert
Rock like Woodstock at the Leroy Washburn Field on Friday, September 10th from 9:00-11:30pm! The Students’ Union will be highlighting musical talent from [Insert a Super, Fantastic Band Name Here]! Everyone’s doing it!

12th Annual Fredericton Area AIDS WALK
St. Thomas students will be walking in support of the Students’ Union and St. Thomas University Campus Ministry’s commitment to AIDS relief in Zambia on Sunday, September 12th. Registration will take place from 12:00 until 2:00pm, when the walk commences. This walk will be specifically supporting AIDS New Brunswick and the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s efforts to solve the AIDS epidemic in Zambia, Africa. Following the 12th Annual Fredericton Area AIDS WALK, there will be a BBQ downtown in Officer’s Square.
