CTV political correspondent Mike Duffy will be the special guest speaker at St. Thomas’s third Gala Dinner. Tickets are $125, with proceeds going to the Millennium Bursary Programme.

Mike Duffy, political correspondent for CTV Newsnet, will be the special guest speaker for St. Thomas’s third Gala Dinner.

Scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2002, at the Sheraton Fredericton Hotel, the Gala Dinner will raise funds to create a $500,000 endowment.

The endowment funds bursaries for St. Thomas students demonstrating financial need. Thirty bursaries worth $500 each were offered to St. Thomas students in 2001, and 30 more will be offered in January 2002.

Tickets for the Dinner are $125, and purchasers will receive a $75 tax receipt for each ticket. A reception will be held at 6 p.m., with the dinner beginning at 7 o’clock.

Mr. Duffy graciously accepted the invitation to be the special guest for the evening. Born in Charlottetown, PEI, and recognized from coast to coast, Mr. Duffy was the award-winning host of “Sunday Edition” for several seasons. The popular current affairs newsmagazine show regularly broke new ground, interviewing the biggest names about the hottest political and social issues.
Mr. Duffy has received many awards for his journalistic work; however, he claims his most cherished award came a few years ago when the editors of Chatelaine magazine gave him the honour of “One of Canada’s 10 Sexiest Men!”

With more than 20 years experience on Parliament Hill, Mr. Duffy is widely recognized as an “Ottawa insider.” As the Toronto Star stated, Mr. Duffy is the reporter to whom other journalists listen for insight.
