A Message from the President

Dr. Daniel O'BrienI would like to extend my congratulations and best wishes to our graduating students and their families. I hope these years have been productive, rewarding and fun – and that you have formed friendships that will last a lifetime.

I believe that a Liberal education is now more important than ever. It encourages students to develop their critical judgement by exploring fundamental questions about our society. It inspires the imagination and engages the spirit. To that end, one of our goals at St. Thomas University is to provide our students with the opportunity to develop critical thought and to exercise their intellectual abilities in a responsive, challenging and nurturing academic setting. We want our students to succeed, to grow in self-esteem, and to experience the joy of intellectual accomplishment. I am confident that our graduates will contribute these very important skills and abilities to the betterment of their families and their communities.

Though you are moving on, as alumni, you are a very important part of the St. Thomas community. I encourage you to keep in touch with the University, and with your fellow graduates through the alumni magazine, and to attend alumni events in your area. We count on your support, interest and loyalty in your new role as alumni of the university.

In closing, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Daniel O’Brien
