Professor Emeritus Awarded to Professor of History Dr. Anthony L.H. Rhinelander
For three decades, Dr. Rhinelanders colleagues and students have benefited from his exceptional skill as a lecturer, scholar and contributor to the development of St. Thomas University. He has been an accomplished scholar, presenting papers, participating in panels, and attending conferences in Canada, the United States and in Russia. He published a book on nineteenth century Russian imperialism and translated a classic history of Russia. His teaching style is engaging and imaginative. His lively impersonation of historical figures such as Ivan the Terrible and Erasmus have drawn crowds of appreciative students. Bystanders have been astonished to see Dr. Rhinelander, in Cossack garb or in flowing robes, striding across the campus, making the study of history a memorable experience for his students. Dr. Rhinelander also devoted considerable time and energy to university and community activities. He contributed to dozens of university committees, delivered public lectures, and was president of the Fredericton Heritage Trust. |
