Approximately 40 students met President Daniel O’Brien, vice-presidents Rick Myers and Lawrence Durling, and members of the faculty and staff at the reception for major scholarship winners, held September 12 at Holy Cross House.

Dr. O’Brien congratulated the students on their awards and expressed encouragement concerning their upcoming years at St. Thomas.

St. Thomas University devotes more of its operating budget to scholarships and bursaries than any other university in Eastern Canada.

This year, one in every two first-year students received an entrance scholarship, and one in every 11 holds a renewable award ranging in value from $2,000 to $38,000 over four years. In addition, many other entering students hold non-renewable, annual scholarships valued from $500 to $3,000.
