Logue Memorial Award

The award was established in response to the United Nations’ declaration of 1999 as International Year of Older Persons (IYOP). To commemorate the important work being done by and for older persons throughout our province, the Logue Memorial Award is presented on an annual basis at a special breakfast organized in Fredericton by the Third Age Centre on the International Day of Older Persons.

Eligible for the award is any volunteer group or organization within New Brunswick that represents the older adult population and/or makes a notable contribution toward the improvement of services for seniors in a particular area. Nominations are evaluated according to the following criteria:

  1. IMPACT Nominees shall carry out work of outstanding or unique quality by reason of their dedication, initiative, and interest with respect to seniors in the community.
  2. ONGOING COMMITMENT Nominees shall demonstrate ongoing commitment to the community through lasting contribution in the development and improvement of services the community service.
  3. PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES Nominees shall have modelled a positive attitude, adaptability, and reliability.
  4. CREATIVITY Nominees shall use innovative and creative methods to improve the use of resources

The George Wakeling Award

This award is presented annually to an individual with a superior record of service to New Brunswick seniors. Nominations are assessed according to the following criteria. The award recipient will have performed outstanding work for seniors over a number of years. This work will exhibit dedication and commitment , as well as innovation and creativity. Seniors in New Brunswick will be better off as a result of the work of this individual. This award is also presented at the IDOP Breakfast.
