Here are links to Canada's top three granting councils, namely the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the Canadian Institues of Health Research (CIHR), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). As well, a link to Industry Canada.

Here is a link to a list of available grants by funding agency in a timeline.

A program built upon fostering powerful partnerships between university, government and industry the three granting councils combined their efforts and resources to create and oversee the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE). This program was developed to answer strategic research questions that have been deemed vital to Canada's social and economic development.

Le Fonds pour la Fondation de Chercheurs et l'aide à la recherche a site established by the Quebec Department of Education to support university research and train researchers. It contains a searchable database on projects in both French and English.

Canadian Education Research Information System CERIS. An organization whose aim it is to improve communication among researchers, policy makers, practitioners, and the public.

Health Canada This web site links researchers with available funding programs through Health Canada's National Health Research and Development Programs, CIHR, and other government-funded programs. It also provides links to research currently being funded through Health Canada

Perspectives [Articles by professional journalist, Wayne Kondro, on issues of importance to the social sciences and the humanities]Perspectives is an electronic newsletter on research and science policy. The Federation is pleased with the impact this electronic newsletter has had on its members and, in particular, on university administrators across the country. The aim of Perspectives is to provide timely information and analysis on federal research and science policy, with emphasis on the social sciences and humanities. Perspectives appears at regular intervals throughout the year and is posted on the Federation web site.

UNB: Center for Research and Development Services
This page provides information on upcoming funding deadlines, namely for grants, contracts and royalties. It also provides links to the major funding agencies in Canada as well as information on grants available through UNB.

University of Alberta: The Research Grant Office
The University of Alberta Research Grant Office includes many useful links to research funding agencies. It also focuses on various Grant Application Strategies, providing advice on how to successfully apply for research funding.

University of Saskatchewan: Research Services
The Office of Research Services at the University of Saskatchewan includes links to the major funding agencies throughout Canada. It also includes some searchable funding databases in both Canada and the United States. The Office of Research Services also provides some information on the funding available through the University of Saskatchewan.

McMaster University: Office of Research Services (ORS)
McMaster University's ORS provides the administrative infrastructure support for the facilitation and promotion of research activities of academic staff in the Faculties of Business, Engineering, Humanities, Science , and Social Sciences. It focuses on research policies and procedures; Federal, Provincial and Not-for-profit grants and research accounting services.

The Harvard University Office of Sponsored Research (ORS) web site contains a great deal of useful information, such as Frequently Used Facts, proposal writing tips, and links to United States federal agencies and foundations.

The Kennedy School's Research website also contains a great deal of useful information.

 

A subscription based electronic resource of note is InfoEd International, which provides the following electronic funding information:

Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN): A database off over 8,000 federal and non-federal funding opportunities.

SPIN Matching and Research Transmittal Service (SMARTS): An e-mail notice off changes and updates made to the SPIN database.

Global Expertise Network for Industry Universities and Scholars (GENIUS): A database of researcher profiles that identifies researchers' interests, expertise, and experience and provides a way for sponsors to locate investigators in particular fields and for investigators to locate potential research partners and collaborators.

Another subscription based electronic resource of note is the Community of Science, which can provides information on funding sources and collaborators.
