FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

  • British Academy/ACU Grants for International Collaboration - Approximately ten awards are available, each to a total value of up to £5,000 stg, for projects involving joint research between a UK university and ACU member institution in another Commonwealth country. Applications should be submitted via the UK institution, and the closing date is September 30, 2005. Please visit the Research Office Notice Board for more information.
  • ACU Titular Fellowships – Ten fellowships are in defined areas listed on the Research Office Notice Board. Each fellowship is to a total value of up to £5,000 stg. Please note that we are only able to accept nominations for the areas listed. You are invited to nominate up to two members of staff in total, in each case specifying which particular Fellowship you would like them to be considered for. The closing date for nominations to arrive at the ACU is August 31, 2005.
  • Canada-Latin America and the Caribbean Research Exchange Grants (LAC-REG) – The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2005 LAC-REG program. The LAC-REG will have one competition in 2005 and the awards will be for travel-related expenses to Canadian, Latin American or Caribbean researchers. Approximately 20 grants will be awarded. Please note that the deadline for submission of applications to the AUCC is 4PM (Ottawa time), April 29, 2005.   • 2005-2006 Quebec/New Brunswick Cooperation in Advanced Education and Research Program - This is a financial assistance program to promote education and research exchanges between students and professors in New Brunswick and Quebec. Applications for 2005-2006 are available at http://www.gnb.ca/0000/ps/cooperation-e.asp . University professors and students can apply to receive funding for eligible costs related to participation in a research project with a host university in Quebec. The application deadline is April 15, 2005.

  • Saskatchewan Institute of Public Policy (SIPP) - The SIPP invites the submission of proposed or completed papers for consideration in SIPP’s Public Policy Paper Series Publication. OTHER MATTERS

  • CIBC Scholar-in-Residence Research Chair at the Conference Board of Canada – Scholars who have an outstanding record of research on public policy, economic or organizational performance issues are encouraged to apply. This position will be suitable for senior professors on sabbatical leave or other kinds of leave from their home institutions. Applications will be taken until April 15, 2005.   • Canada Chair Nomination Process - Thank you for your feedback about the focus for our new Canada Chairs. We are open for ideas up until 30 April. We will be setting up a planning committee (that will probably become the search committee) early in May. If you would be willing to join the planning committee please let Lehanne know (knowlton@stu.ca or ext. 647).
  • Research Committee Open Day/Celebration of Faculty Research at STU - April 21st, 2005. Please reserve a few minutes between 11:30am and 1:30pm to attend the “come and go” open day hosted by the Research Committee in JDH 107. At 1:30pm please join us in the foyer of the lower level in the James Dunn building where researchers will be presenting brief “show and tell” about their work this year. If you would like a 5 minute slot to talk about an achievement such as a book, journal, or grant during this academic year please let Lehanne know.
