- Carter
G. Woodson Institute of Predoctoral Research - Fellowships.
The Carter G. Woodson Institute for African-American and African Studies
at the University of Virginia invites scholars whose work focuses
on Africa and/or African Diaspora to apply for a two-year predoctoral
research fellowship, beginning August 15, 2005. This residential fellowship
carries an annual stipend of $20,000. Applications must be postmarked

Listening and Change” -
Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, from July 21-22,
2005. This conference will bring together speakers and participants

in the many uses of storytelling, the sharing of personal experiences,
active listening and the positive change that these can have on individuals,
families and groups, organizations, communities and societies. Deadline

for Papers: “The Figure of the Coquette”
- The proposed collection of essays seeks to explore the figure of
the coquette in the long eighteenth century (1660-1830), and has a
particular interest in the coquette as a key site for debates about
women’s nature and female roles during this period. Deadline
