Bob Eckstein

Assistant Professor

Bob has been on faculty with the Bachelor of Social Work program since 2018. He was previously employed by the province of New Brunswick for more than 33 years in various capacities. He began his social work career as a frontline social worker in the provincial youth justice system, and worked as the senior policy and program adviser for youth justice services in the New Brunswick government. From 2010 – 2018, he worked with the Department of Education as Director for Youth Integrated Services Delivery. 

He completed his Bachelor of Arts (1982) and Bachelor of Social Work (1989) degrees at St. Thomas University and Master of Social Work degree from Carleton University in 1992. He was a sessional instructor in the Criminology program at St. Thomas University for over 15 years. In the BSW program he presently teaches the "Preparing for Professional Practice" and the "Organizing for Action with Diverse Groups" courses. He is also responsible for coordinating student field placements in Social Action and Direct Practice. 

He lives with his family in New Maryland and is an avid multiple sports fan.
