The 2nd Annual Plain Site Theatre Festival, curated by Alex Rioux and run by Theatre St. Thomas in partnership with Solo Chicken Productions, is proud to return once again to the St. Thomas University campus to present new 2SLGBTQIA+ centered plays with the aim of fostering queer visibility in our arts scene and on our campus.
  

STAGED READING OF REFUGEE HOTEL: Nov 29, 2020

The Refugee Hotel is a fictionalized story based on playwright Carmen Aguirre’s experiences arriving in Canada with her family during the brutal military coup in Chile. We welcome auditions submissions from all Latinx and BIPOC performers.

 

COLLECTIVE CREATION FOR ZOOM: January 28-30, 2021

Hot on the heels of directing the interactive live Zoom mainstage production, ‘Space Girl’ for the 2020 NotaBle Acts Festival, Jean Michel will bring his new creative knowledge and experience to Theatre St. Thomas. Jean Michel will work with a cast of students developing a script specifically designed to be performed on the platform of Zoom.

 

SCOPE—A VIRTUAL SCAVENGER HUNT: March 20-25, 2021

SCOPE is a sci-fi digital performance told in the form of a scavenger hunt held across the internet. The story centres on Zero, a hyper-intelligent artificial intelligence, guided through a variety of simulations depicting strange worlds and possible futures in order to better understand humanity. A collection of scenes act as an anthology portraying everyday hardships with a sci-fi twist. Scope is an online experience incorporating film, visual art, social media and more. Each simulation is captured as an immersive 360 degrees film, dropping the audience directly into a world of astronauts, robots and talking dogs.
