"Teaching and Teacher Education in Challenging Settings" Lecture by Dr. Davide Parmigiani

Visiting scholar Dr. Davide Parmigiani, Associate Professor of Education at University of Genoa (Italy) will deliver the lecture "Teaching and Teacher Education in Challenging Settings," on November 17 at 2:30 PM in BMH 202.

 

In his talk, Prof. Parmigiani will explore the future challenges of the teaching profession at all levels from kindergarten to higher education. He will discuss the different perspectives of schooling across Europe and North America. In particular, he will address timely and relevant questions related to the use of educational technologies such as AI, how to combine formative and summative assessments, and intercultural and global education inside and outside the classroom.

 

Prof. Parmigiani is Associate Professor of Education at University of Genoa (Italy), past-President of ATEE (Association for Teacher Education in Europe), and President-elect of the WFATE (World Federation of Associations of Teacher Education). He is also affiliated with the European Commission as a member of the working group on Schools within the EEA (European Education Area) Strategic Framework.

 

Additionally, Prof. Parmigiani is head of the research lab named AGIRE – AGency, Inclusion, Research and Equity in Teacher Education. AGIRE lab is multi-disciplinary research group within the University of Genoa (Italy), The lab’s research activities focus on the professional development of both pre- and in-service teachers. The acronym AGIRE gathers and explains crucial points related to the educational aspects of the teaching profession. In the Italian language, the acronym AGIRE represents an extremely meaningful word: to do something for somebody. In particular, the AGIRE lab aims to set up and carry out scientific studies that directly involve schools and teachers, especially in the following topics: educational technologies; teaching strategies; summative and formative assessment; intercultural education; internationalisation of teacher education.
