The St. Thomas University Fine Arts department is pleased to present pianist Antonio Formaro in concert Tuesday, March 10 at 7:00 PM in McCain Hall room 101. All are welcome and admission is FREE.
Antonio Formaro is an Argentinian concert pianist of international stature who regularly appears as a soloist with the most prestigious orchestras. He initially studied with Perla Brúgola and Manuel Rego, and later studied under Maestro Lazar Berman (Russia) who considered him “an extraordinary and talented pianist.”
After studying piano at the National Conservatory "Carlos López Buchardo" and at the Accademia Musicale Chiggiana in Siena, he graduated with a degree in Musicology from the Faculty of Arts and Musicology of UCA (Argentina), where he currently works as Director of Piano performance. He also teaches chamber music at the UNLa.
In recent years, Formaro has been performed as a soloist in the seasons of the Teatro Colon, the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Argentine Music, the Argentine Theater of La Plata, the Symphony of Lima (Peru), the Antofagasta Symphony (Chile), Chamber Orchestra of the Gewandhaus Leipzig (Germany), and the Mendelssohn-Remise Saal (Berlin).
In 2019 Formaro won the very prestigious Konex award as Argentina’s Best Piano Artist.
