This year we are excited to welcome as our keynote speaker, renown poet and activist El Jones!

About our Keynote:
El Jones is a poet, educator, journalist and advocate. She was the fifth Poet Laureate of Halifax, and currently holds the 15th Nancy’s Chair in Women’s Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University. Jones is a co-founder of the Black Power Hour, a radio show developed collectively with prisoners. Her advocacy and work fights anti-Black racism in Canada, walking in the path of her great-grandmothers who resisted relentlessly. Jones has performed all over Canada, including the 10th Anniversary All-Star edition of When Sisters Speak in Toronto. In 2012, she was sponsored by Citizenship and Heritage Canada on a reading tour of Nova Scotia with George Elliott Clarke.

Some of the workshops to be offered during this event include:
Project Management 101
Social Activism
Trauma Stewardship
Social Media Marketing for Pros
Ally Leadership
Learning strategies for effective leadership
Conflict Resolution Skills
Public Speaking and Presentation Skills
