The long period of Western domination of the world is rapidly coming to an end. What is emerging is a multipolar world, in which China is the most powerful single state. This talk examines China’s astonishingly rapid rise, the sources of its overarching power, and speculates on what this means for the global system. The world will need to learn to accept the new hierarchy of power on the global stage, but this will not be as difficult as many Westerners fear.
