Black Box Productions, St. Thomas University’s home for theatre, is thrilled to welcome ALL St. Thomas University students, and members of the community to audition for our 2023/2024 season. The mission of our company is to bring together students, staff, and members of the community to create bold and relevant theatre.

Black Box Productions will be hosting three productions/festivals this year including:

  • The Live Radio Project – WAR OF THE WORLDS: October 26-28, 2023 – Mediums merge as Black Box joins forces with CHSR Radio to create a memorable experience - an iconic radio play performed live in front of a studio audience, and broadcast on the airwaves!   This production will be directed by the legendary Ilkay Silk.

  • 5th Annual Plain Site Theatre Festival: November 23-25, 2023 - Curated by Alex Rioux in partnership with Black Box, Plain Site is New Brunswick’s premier 2SLGBTQIA+ theatre festival dedicated to promoting queer focused storytelling and visibility by providing emerging artists and students a safer space to develop their craft under the guidance of established 2SLGBTQIA+ artists.

  • Mi Casa:  A New Musical: March 21-23, 2024 -  This is a workshop premier of a new Canadian musical, written and co-directed by STU alum, Lucas Guttierez Robert, with original music by Camilo Villamizar.  A musical exploration of the Latinx immigrant experience, Mi Casa examines how culture, music, and the stories we tell shape our identity. NOTE: Auditionees will also need to prepare a verse and chorus of a song of their choosing.

NOTE: We also have a Writer's lab, workshops, a new Improv Troupe, and opportunities to work backstage! Use our sign up to learn more.

NO THEATRE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. ALL ARE WELCOME!
