2004 - Dr. Omar Basabe

Dr. Omar Basabe joined St. Thomas University in 1995.  He is widely recognized for his dynamic educational background, instructional leadership, and innovative teaching. He is well regarded by his students for his enthusiasm and love of teaching.

In his teaching, he employs a variety of strategies to continually improve his performance and enhance the learning experience of his students. Dr. Basabe believes that education is a community process in which individuals must work together to discover the world. As a result, he constructs his classrooms as a community that promotes creativity and risk taking. He is recognized by his students for his availability outside of class time, as well as his compassionate understanding of their needs.

His research interests include Latin American Theatre, Argentinean narrative and culture, and human rights. He has written numerous scholarly articles and presented several papers at scholarly conferences.
