Call for Volunteers to Act as Moot Court Judges
Moot Court Tournament at STU Dec. 6-7, 2019: Call for Volunteers to Act as Judges
My name is Professor Amanda DiPaolo, and I am Chair of the Department of Human Rights at STU and I also run the Moot Court Program. In December, STU will be hosting “The Tommies Tournament,” a regional undergraduate competition for the American Moot Court Association.
We expect 30 teams from the United States in Fredericton for the tournament on Friday, December 6th and Saturday, December 7th. On Friday, the tournament will run from 2 pm-5:30 pm and we will need 45 volunteers to act as judges. While on Saturday, the tournament will run from 9 am-3 pm and we will need 30 volunteers to act as judges.
The Moot Court Program runs on the kindness of volunteers, and I am asking if you could serve as a judge.
Volunteer judges will receive the Case Problem as well as the Bench Brief as soon as it is released. There will also be a Judges’ Orientation prior to the first round of competition.
If you are available to judge either of these days, please kindly respond to this e-mail (dipaolo@stu.ca) letting me know your availability. (I am also collecting cell numbers and preferred email addresses.)
As well, if you know of any other lawyers in the community who may be interested, please pass along this email. You could also send me their contact information and I would be happy to contact anyone that may have interest.
If the tournament dates do not work for your schedule, but you are interested in helping out with the STU Moot Program, we are always looking for lawyers to help judge dress rehearsals. Our first dress rehearsal will be in late October and early November.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Dr. Amanda DiPaolo
